run_in_eng_logobigRun-In-England: Challenge 3-2-1

UCLU are proud to be working with Run-In-England in developing organised running groups for UCL students around the UCL campus!

There will be routes set up for 1k, 2k and 3k runs around the area- with permanent directions on buildings and lamposts!
We are currently looking for Volunteers to train to be a 3-2-1 leaders to lead beginner runners through the different courses. If you are interested in becoming a leader check out the information here and contact Alex Hingley a.hingley@ucl.ac.uk with your interest.
The aim of the 3-2-1 challenge is for you to set yourself targets for example:
Distance challenge: run 1k, 2k, 3k each week
Time challenge: decrease the time it takes you to run 1k, 2k, 3k or increase your running times to 10mins, 20mins, 30mins
Intensity: slow, medium pace, quick/ jog, run, sprint
You can do the 3-2-1 challenge anywhere from the treadmill to your local street!

With so many new cycling initiatives going on in London there is no excuse not to get on your bike!

The 'Boris bikes' have taken London by storm. You can easily plan your route to Uni via the route planner and it's really cheap too! It is free for journeys less than 30 minutes and then only £45 for a whole year of riding...that's the equivilant to two weeks' travelling in zones 1 and 2 on the Tube!

You can also buy your own bike and chain it up in the bike racks outside lecture theatres and the UCLU buildings... check out Going Going Bike for cheap bikes!

The borough of Camden is not just great for nights out and shopping, it also offers you free outdoor gyms.
The outdoor gyms are just that: gyms which are outdoor! They offer the equipment you would usually find in an indoor gym but adapted for outdoor use.
The gyms are dotted all over Camden so find your nearest one and start using it for free!
You could even plan a running route and stop of at the gyms to mix in some weight training with your cardiovascular exercise to get a full work-out.
