How to set up a microsite

Thu, 12/10/2006 - 12:44

If you have applied for a Microsite and want some more help getting started, download our guide, or take a look at www.uclunion.org/clubs-societies/help.

If you're a member of a club or society, you can set up your own microsite, complete with picture galleries, blogging and an events calendar.

You don't have to be a technical whizz to set up and maintain a microsite - the system is designed to be 'wysiwyg' (what you see is what you get), so it’s accessible to all.

What do I need to do to get a microsite?

To get a microsite for your club or society, email uclu-webeditor@ucl.ac.uk with the following details:
1. Club and Society Name
2. The name of your chosen web administrator (this could be the president, or a committee member, but it can only be one person).
3. Their UCL User ID. This is usually an alphanumeric combination, seven characters long, and is used to access College email and Portico, among other things.
4. Your required website address such as uclunion.org/masaryk. It must start with uclunion.org.

Once you have provided these details, you will then receive an email with further instructions. You will be given help and assistance with setting up your site, and will also be able to take advantage of new functionality as it becomes available, such as discussion forums and news feeds.
