(**NEW ROLE**) UCL STUDENT HUMAN RIGHTS PROGRAMME GRASSROOTS PROJECT
VOLUNTEERS
The UCL Student Human Rights Programme Grassroots Project provides workshops teaching human rights to children aged between 12-16 years old. We need volunteers from UCL, Undergraduate or Graduate, to deliver the pre-prepared syllabus across schools throughout London. You do not need to be a Law student. Admittedly we would prefer students reading Law, History, Politics or Philosophy. However, if you can prove that you have an interest in Human Rights that is enough for us!
We will be providing training to introduce you to the syllabus and give example games and teaching ideas. The beauty of the project is that the volunteers will have much freedom to plan and develop their own lesson plans. There will be a brief introduction meeting to get acquainted and also hand out necessary forms we need you to complete in the coming weeks, followed by a few training sessions.
If you are interested, get in touch by email: grassroots@uclshrp.com
Please provide in your response, your name, a copy of your CV, the subject you are studying, contact details, as well as answers to the following question: Why are you interested in volunteering for the UCLSHRP Grassroots Project?

(**NEW ROLE**) CITY OF WESTMINSTER LIBRARIES
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE MENTOR
The Summer Reading Challenge is a national reading initiative which challenges children to read six library books of their choice over the summer holidays, encouraging children to read more books, more widely, as a fun thing to do, but it also has a positive effect on their learning. Children join the Challenge at their local library and are given a membership card and a record card. Each time they read a book they come back to the library where they receive rewards such as stickers, and medals and certificates are awarded to children completing the Challenge. Maybe you took part when you were younger!
Last year 760,000 children took part across UK, with over 2,500 taking part in Westminster libraries. We are looking for young people to help us deliver the Summer Reading Challenge in Westminster libraries this summer holiday. You will be working in libraries enrolling children (mainly 4 – 11 age range) to the scheme, explaining about the Challenge, talking to them about the books that they have read and handing out rewards and incentives. You will also be involved in helping to deliver activities and events for children and families.
You will be supported by library staff and receive training before you start. You’ll also receive a certificate for taking part. Email oliver.peachey@ucl.ac.uk to find out more today.
