LGBT Volunteering Fair

Wed, 01/02/2012 - 16:51

After the resounding success of last year’s first LGBT Volunteering Fair, the Volunteering Services Unit and LGBT Consortium have decided to repeat the event on Tuesday, 7th February. This event is also part of the UCL Diversity Month Celebrations. Last year the fair attracted more than 100 aspiring volunteers who took the chance to find out about volunteering with over 12 different LGB&T London based organisations.

Prospective volunteers had the opportunity to network and learn about ways to get involved over some food and a glass of wine. Giulia Polidori, a volunteer at the Consortium said, "I enjoyed sharing my experience as a volunteer. This fair was the perfect place for volunteers to learn about the different roles and opportunities available in the LGB&T sector. The evening proved to be a successful bridge for organisations to help recruit volunteers."

This year 12 LGB&T organisations will be represented including:

  • Broken Rainbow UK
  • Camden LGBT Forum
  • Consortium of LGBT Voluntary and Community Organisations
  • East London Out Project (ELOP)
  • Families Together London
  • Kairos in Soho
  • London Friend
  • London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard
  • Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre
  • Naz Project London
  • Schools OUT
  • Beatbullying - CyberMentors

We would like to welcome all staff and students from any London University interested in finding out about getting involved in volunteering in the LGB&T Sector. You can let us know if you are attending by registering before the event online, or just turn up and bring your friends.
